Alternative Yarns
When substituting Lincraft Imperial, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 21 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include smooth 8ply wool, wool blends or soft synthetic yarns with similar stitch definition, drape and elasticity. For a child’s jumper, choose a yarn that is comfortable against the skin and durable enough for regular wear.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the jumper in a solid colour for a classic everyday hooded knit.
- Use a contrasting colour for the hood and ribbed cuffs.
- Add simple stripes through the body and sleeves while keeping the original shaping.
- Adjust the sleeve length where indicated in the pattern for a customised fit.
- Use a tonal or lightly heathered yarn for subtle colour variation.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the slim fit, sleeve shaping and hood. Store folded rather than hanging to avoid stretching the garment, and reshape the hood carefully after washing.
