Alternative Yarns

When substituting Lincraft Spiral, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 31 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over patt, using 4.00mm needles.

Suitable alternatives may include smooth or softly colour-changing yarns with good stitch definition so the honeycomb cable pattern remains clearly visible. A yarn with enough structure will help the finished cushion cover retain its shape around the insert.

Important: Match the specified tension and finished fabric rather than relying only on the yarn weight description. Work a generous tension swatch in the pattern stitch before beginning, as a substitute yarn may alter the finished dimensions, cable definition and total yarn quantity required.

Customisation Ideas

  • Use a self-striping or colour-changing yarn to create gradual colour changes across the honeycomb pattern.
  • Work the cushion in a solid colour to place greater emphasis on the cable texture.
  • Choose contrasting or decorative buttons to personalise the buttonhole closure.
  • Use matching buttons for a subtle finish that blends into the knitted fabric.
  • Make coordinating cushions in different colourways for a matching home décor set.

Care Instructions

Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Remove the cushion insert before washing the knitted cover where practical.

Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp. Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the honeycomb stitch texture and finished dimensions. Reinsert the cushion only when the cover is completely dry, and check the buttons regularly to ensure they remain securely attached.
