Alternative Yarns
When substituting Lincraft Baby 4ply Merino, choose a soft 4ply yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.25mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include soft merino, baby wool, wool blends or smooth baby acrylic yarns suitable for garments worn next to sensitive skin. A yarn with good stitch definition will help the double moss stitch sections remain clearly visible.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the dress in a single soft pastel shade for a classic baby garment.
- Use a contrasting colour for the Neckband and Shoulder Bands.
- Choose decorative buttons for the shoulder opening, ensuring they are securely attached.
- Use a tonal or lightly variegated 4ply yarn for subtle colour variation.
- Make coordinating versions in different sizes for siblings or as a baby gift set.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the A-line shaping, sleeves and double moss stitch sections. Check the shoulder buttons regularly to ensure they remain securely attached, particularly when the garment is intended for a baby.
