#2007 Trendy Cotton Slippers

These cute little cotton slippers are thin enough to wear to bed on cold nights as well as wear around the house all year.

How to Knit Trendy Cotton Slippers

Create a comfortable pair of knitted cotton slippers using a simple moss stitch pattern. These slippers are worked in separate sole and upper pieces before being joined together with a yarn needle.

The pattern uses a textured moss stitch, creating a soft and durable fabric that is suitable for everyday wear.

Moss Stitch Pattern

Work over an odd number of stitches.

Row 1: Knit 1, *purl 1, knit 1, repeat from * to end.

Row 2: Knit 2, *purl 1, knit 1, repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.

Continue repeating these two rows to form the moss stitch pattern.

Pattern note: The entire slipper is worked in moss stitch. Keep your stitch tension even to ensure both slippers match in size.

Assembly and Finishing

  1. Using the yarn needle, join the straight edges at the back of the heel on the upper pieces.
  2. Insert the sole into the upper section.
  3. Pin around the edge to hold the pieces together.
  4. Attach the sole using a simple blanket stitch.
  5. Ease fullness around the toe area as you sew.
Helpful hint: Pin the sole and upper together before sewing to distribute the fullness evenly around the toe and prevent puckering.

Helpful Tips

  • Knit both slippers together where possible to maintain matching sizing.
  • Keep track of row counts, especially during shaping sections.
  • Use stitch markers to identify shaping edges if required.
  • Check the length of the sole against the intended foot size before joining.
  • Sew seams securely as slippers receive regular wear.
