- Approximate project time: 1 hour
What You Will Need
Materials
- Printed ear templates
- A3 teal glitter foam sheet
- Pink glitter top hat
- White self-adhesive felt sheet
- Glitter egg pick
Equipment
- Scissors
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- Wire cutters
Prepare the Glitter Trim
- Cut a long strip from the teal glitter foam sheet, making it wide enough to create a decorative band around the base of the top hat.
- Wrap the strip around the hat to check the fit and trim away any excess.
- Glue the glitter foam band securely in place.
Cut the Bunny Ears
- Print the left and right ear templates.
- Use the large left and right ear templates to cut one of each ear from teal glitter foam.
- Use the smaller inner-ear templates to cut one left and one right ear shape from white self-adhesive felt.
Assemble the Bunny Ears
- Match each white felt inner ear with its corresponding teal glitter foam ear.
- Peel away the backing from the self-adhesive felt and press it firmly onto the centre of the glitter foam ear.
- Slightly fold or pinch the bottom of each ear to give it a curved, three-dimensional shape.
- Secure the folded section with hot glue and allow it to set.
Attach the Ears and Decorations
- Position the bunny ears on opposite sides of the top hat.
- Glue the base of each ear securely to the hat, making sure both ears stand upright.
- Use wire cutters to remove the stems from the glitter egg pick.
- Arrange the glitter eggs near the base of one ear and glue them to the side of the hat.
Safety Note
Hot glue guns and melted glue can cause burns. Adult supervision is recommended when children are completing this project.
Take care when using wire cutters, and make sure all trimmed wire ends are fully covered or removed before the hat is worn.
