Create a lightweight fabric bandana that can be tied and styled in a variety of ways. This easy sewing project uses a single square of fabric to make two triangular bandanas, making it a practical project for beginners.

What You Will Need
Materials
- One 70 cm square of printed fabric
- Matching thread
Equipment
- Sewing machine
- Fabric scissors
- Iron and ironing board
- Dressmakerโs marking pencil
- Ruler
Cut the Bandanas
- Measure and cut a square of fabric measuring 70 cm ร 70 cm.
- Fold the fabric diagonally in half, matching two opposite corners.
- Press the fold lightly and mark the diagonal line.
- Cut along the marked diagonal to create two equal triangular bandanas. Each triangle will measure approximately 70 cm ร 70 cm ร 90 cm.
Finish the Edges
- Fold each raw edge towards the wrong side of the fabric.
- Fold the edge over a second time to enclose the raw edge and create a narrow double-fold hem.
- Press the folded edges in place.
- Sew around the entire bandana close to the inner folded edge.
- Press the finished bandana before wearing.
Helpful Tips
Take extra care when folding and sewing around the three corners. Trimming a small amount from the corner before folding can help reduce bulk.
