Alternative Yarns
When substituting Lincraft Babysoft 4ply, choose a soft 4ply yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.25mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include soft baby acrylic, merino, wool blends or other smooth 4ply yarns suitable for baby garments and accessories. Choose a yarn with good stitch definition so the eyelet pattern remains clearly visible.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the bonnet and booties in the same colour for a coordinated baby set.
- Use a contrasting colour for the I-Cord Tie, Foot Straps or buttons.
- Choose decorative buttons for the booties, ensuring they are securely attached.
- Use a softly variegated or tonal 4ply yarn for subtle colour variation.
- Make the set in several sizes as a handmade baby gift.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the bonnet shaping and bootie fit. Check the buttons, I-Cord Tie and Foot Straps regularly to ensure they remain securely attached, particularly when the finished items are intended for a baby.
