Alternative Yarns

When substituting Lincraft Cotton 8ply, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 22 sts and 37 rows to 10cm over patt, using 4.00mm needles.

A cotton or cotton-blend 8ply yarn is a practical alternative for a dish cloth, as these fibres are generally absorbent and suitable for repeated washing. Always work a tension swatch before beginning, as different fibres and yarn constructions can affect the finished size and texture.

Important: Match the required tension rather than relying only on the yarn weight description. Adjust needle size if necessary to achieve the specified tension before beginning the dish cloth.

Customisation Ideas

  • Work the dish cloth in a single colour to emphasise the raised strip texture.
  • Use contrasting colours for different sections of the pattern.
  • Make a coordinated set using several complementary colours.
  • Add a simple hanging loop to one corner for convenient storage.
  • Adjust the finished dimensions by adding or removing pattern repeats while maintaining the stitch pattern.

Care Instructions

Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash regularly according to the fibre recommendations and reshape while damp if required.

Allow the dish cloth to dry thoroughly between uses. For best hygiene and durability, avoid leaving it damp for extended periods.
