Alternative Yarns
When substituting Lincraft Baby Soft 4ply, choose a soft 4ply yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.25mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include soft baby acrylic, merino, wool blends or other smooth 4ply yarns suitable for garments worn next to the skin. Always work a tension swatch before beginning, as differences in fibre and yarn construction can affect the finished size and fit.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the beanie in a soft pastel, neutral or bright colour.
- Use a contrasting colour for the Stalk to create a playful finish.
- Add subtle stripes through the stocking stitch section.
- Make several sizes in coordinating colours as a baby gift set.
- Use a softly variegated 4ply yarn for a gentle colour-changing effect.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the shape and fit of the beanie. Ensure the beanie is completely dry before use or storage, and check the Stalk and seams regularly to make sure they remain securely finished.
