How to Knit the Comb Hair Bow
Knit a textured hair bow using Lincraft Cuddles yarn and a simple four-row dot stitch pattern. The knitted piece is folded, seamed and gathered through the centre before being attached securely to a hair comb.
The finished bow measures approximately 11cm wide and 5cm long.

Alternative Yarns
The original pattern uses Lincraft Cuddles yarn. When choosing an alternative, select a yarn that produces a soft but structured fabric on 4.50mm knitting needles.
Suitable Yarn Types
- Soft acrylic yarn – an easy-care option with good colour availability.
- Wool-acrylic blend – provides softness with a little extra structure.
- Machine-washable wool – suitable for a soft natural-fibre version.
- Textured or lightly brushed yarn – can give the bow a softer, plush appearance.
- DK to light worsted yarn – may be suitable provided the finished bow retains a similar size and structure.
Customisation Ideas
- Use a bright statement colour for a bold hair accessory.
- Choose a neutral shade for an everyday bow.
- Use a contrasting centre wrap to highlight the bow shape.
- Add a small decorative button over the centre wrap after assembly.
- Make several bows in different colours using the same original stitch pattern.
To retain the original proportions, keep the cast-on count of 19 sts, the four-row dot stitch pattern and the additional 20 rows unchanged.
Care Instructions
Follow the washing and care instructions provided on the ball band of the yarn used.
- Check that the bow remains securely attached to the hair comb.
- Spot clean where practical.
- Use gentle washing if permitted by the yarn manufacturer.
- Avoid soaking the hair comb if its material is not suitable for prolonged water exposure.
- Reshape the bow while damp.
- Allow the bow to dry completely before wearing.
