Needles
- A pair of 10.00mm knitting needles.
- A cable needle.
- Pom pom maker (available from Lincraft).
- Wool needle for sewing in ends.
Tension
7.5 sts and 13 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 10.00mm needles.
Special Abbreviation
C8B = slip next 4 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K4, then K4 from cable needle.
Foot
Using 10.00mm needles and CC, cast on 9 sts.
Knit in garter st until work measures 4cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.
Using MC, cont in garter st until work measures 21cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.
Using CC, cont in garter st until work measures 29cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.
Using MC, cont in garter st until work measures 46cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.
Using CC, cont in garter st until work measures 50cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.
Cast off.
Leg
Using 10.00mm needles and MC, cast on 30 sts.
- 1st row (RS): K2, P2, K8, P2, K2, P2, K8, P2, K2.
- 2nd row: Purl. Repeat 1st and 2nd rows 3 more times.
- 9th row: K2, P2, C8B, P2, K2, P2, C8B, P2, K2.
- 10th row: Purl.
Rows 1-10 form cable patt.
Work cable patt until Leg measures 21cm from beg, finishing on a 10th row. Using CC, work in garter st until work measures 24cm from beg, working last row on wrong side. Cast off.
Finishing
Align centre of Leg to centre of Foot and join. Fold Stocking in half and seam around Foot and Leg. Cut an 80cm length of CC and 2 80cm lengths of MC. Braid these 3 lengths together. Make a loop in the centre, then attach loop securely to top outside edge Leg. Make two pom poms in MC and attach to each end of yarn. Sew in all ends.
