Alternative Yarns
When substituting Makr Cotton 4ply, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.25mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include smooth 4ply cotton or cotton-blend yarns with good stitch definition and enough softness for children’s wear. A lightweight yarn with similar drape will help maintain the intended fit and breathable finish.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the polo shirt in a classic solid colour for a versatile everyday garment.
- Use a contrasting colour for the collar band and sleeve cuffs.
- Choose a contrasting zipper to add a sporty detail to the front placket.
- Work subtle stripes through the stocking stitch body for a different look.
- Adjust the body or sleeve length where appropriate to customise the fit.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Cotton garments may benefit from gentle washing and reshaping while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the collar, ribbing and overall shape. Take care when steaming to avoid stretching the knitted fabric, and close the zipper before storing to help keep the front edges aligned.
