Sew together raglan seams, leaving left back raglan seam open.
Neckband:
With RS facing and smaller needles, K8 (9 - 9 - 11) sts from Left Sleeve st holder, dec 1 st at centre. Pick up and knit 12 (12 - 13 - 13) sts down Left Front neck edge. K14 (15 - 20 - 19) sts from Front st holder. Pick up and knit 12 (12 - 13 - 13) sts up Right Front neck edge. K8 (9 - 9 - 11) sts from Right Sleeve st holder, dec 1 st at centre. 20 (23 - 22 - 23) sts from Back st holder, dec 0 (0-0-2) sts evenly across ... 72 (78 - 84 - 86) sts in work.
Beginning with a WS row, work 9 rows in twisted rib as given for the sleeves. Cast off loosely in ribbing.
Sew left back raglan and neckband seam. Sew side and sleeve seams, weave in all ends, steam lightly and stretch gently into shape.
Alternative Yarns
When substituting Ficio Organic Cotton, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 20.5 sts and 28 rows over 10cm in lace work pattern, using 4.00mm needles.
Suitable alternatives may include smooth cotton or cotton-blend yarns with good stitch definition so the interlocking lace pattern remains clearly visible. A yarn with a soft handle is recommended for children’s garments.
Customisation Ideas
- Work the pullover in a solid colour to emphasise the interlocking lace pattern.
- Choose a tonal or lightly variegated yarn for subtle colour variation.
- Use a contrasting colour for the neckband, cuffs and hem to highlight the ribbing.
