Alternative Yarns
When substituting Ficio Luscious, choose a soft yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 16.5 sts and 24 rows to 10cm, using 4.50mm needles. For the pom pom, choose a yarn similar in weight and structure to Lincraft Grasslands 8ply.
Suitable alternatives for M and C1 may include plush chenille, velour-style or other soft bulky yarns that produce a similar fabric. For C2, a smooth 8ply wool, wool blend or synthetic yarn can be used to create the optional pom pom.
Customisation Ideas
- Choose two contrasting colours for M and C1 to emphasise the colourblock design.
- Use two tonal shades for a softer colour transition.
- Make the pom pom in a third contrasting colour using C2.
- Omit the pom pom for a simpler finished beanie.
- Use a different colour combination for each family member while following the same size-specific instructions.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn labels used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibres and reshape while damp.
Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the ribbed cuff, crown shaping and overall fit. If a pom pom is added, reshape it gently after washing and check regularly that it remains securely attached.
