Knitted up in our recycled cotton yarn, our sleeveless turtleneck is light and breathable enough to wear on the hottest of summer days. This pattern is for both a dress and top that feature a flattering rib pattern that skims over the body and a foldover turtleneck. The dress is a shift mini style while the top hugs in slightly at the waist.

NEEDLES AND EQUIPMENT:
A pair of 3.75mm knitting needles.
A 3.75mm circular knitting needle.
A 3.50mm crochet hook
Wool needle or crochet hook for sewing in ends.
Stitch Holders.
Stitch Markers.
TENSION (AFTER STEAMING):
25.5 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over 2x3 rib pattern, using 3.75mm needles.
KNITTING ABBREVIATIONS:
- K: Knit
- K2tog: Knit 2 Together
- Kfb: K1 into the fr of the next stitch on the needle but do not slide the stitch off, K1 into the bk of the same stitch on the needle and slide the stitch off the needle
- P: Purl
- P2tog: Purl 2 Together
- Pfb: Purl 1, Purl tbl to increase by 1
- Sl1: Slip One Stitch purlwise
- wyif: With Yarn in Front
- wyib: With Yarn in Back
- ssk: Slip, Slip Knit (Left Slanting Decrease)
BACK
Cast on (For Dress):
Using 3.75mm needles cast on 133 (138 - 148 - 153) sts.
Row 1 (RS): Sl1, K2 *P2, K3, repeat from * until end.
Row 2: Sl1, P2 *K2, P3, repeat from * until end.
Repeat these two patterns until piece measures 32cm from beginning ending with a WS row.
Set up Row: Sl1, K2 *P2, K3, repeat until 46 (46 - 46 - 51) sts have been worked, place a marker. Work in pattern for 41 (46 - 56 - 51) more sts, place a marker. Work the final 46 (46 - 46 - 51) pattern until end.
Work 1 row as normal.
Dec Row 1: Work in pattern established until two sts before first marker, SSK, Sl marker in place, work pattern as normal until next marker, Sl marker, K2tog, work in pattern established until end.
Work 3 rows in pattern established.
Repeat the above 4 rows until 117 (122 - 132 - 137) sts rem.
Work one row as normal.
Dec Row 2: Work in pattern established until two sts before first marker, SSK, Sl marker in place, work pattern as normal until next marker, Sl marker, K2tog, work in pattern established until end.
Work 9 rows in pattern without dec.
Repeat the above dec pattern until 103 (108 - 118 - 123) sts rem over 70 rows ending on a WS row. ***
Cast on (For Top):
Using 3.75mm needles cast on 83 (88 - 98 - 103) sts.
Row 1 (RS): Sl1 K2 *P2, K3, repeat from * until end.
Row 2: Sl1, P2 *K2, P3, repeat from * until end.
These two rows form a rib pattern, keeping the ribbing correct, inc by 1 at ea end of every 6th row until there are 103 (108 - 118 - 123) sts on the needles. Work without increases until piece measures 28 (28 - 29 - 29) cm from the beg. ***
Armhole Shaping (Both Lengths):
Place a marker in the stitches at each end of the next row, to mark the start of the armholes. Work without increases until the piece measures 19 (19 - 20 - 20) cm from the marker ending on a WS row.
Shoulder & Neck Shaping:
Next Row (RS): Cast off 11 (12 - 13 - 14) sts at the beg of the next 4 rows
Next Row: Cast off 12 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows.
Leave the rem 35 (36 - 42 - 43) sts on a stitch holder and place aside.
FRONT
Cast On (Both Lengths):
Work as you did for either the top or the dress until *** ... 103 (108 - 118 - 123) sts rem
Armhole Shaping:
Place a marker in the stitches at each end of the next row, to mark the start of the armholes. Work without increases until the piece measures 13 (13 - 14 - 14) cm from the marker ending on a WS row.
Neck Shaping:
Next Row (RS): Work in pattern over the first 57 (60 - 64 - 67) sts.
Place the last 11 sts on a stitch holder to be worked later for the turtleneck.
Continue working in pattern across the rem 46 (48 - 54 - 56) sts.
Turn and working on this set of stitches only, cast off two at the neck edge at the beg of the RS rows four times, continue to dec by 1 at the neck edge on every other row until there are 34 (36 - 38 - 40) sts.
Work without dec until measures 19 (19 - 20 - 20) cm from the marker ending on a WS row.
Shoulder Shaping:
Work one row as normal
Next Row (WS): Cast off 11 (12 - 13 - 14) sts at the beg of the row work as normal to end.
Repeat the above two rows once more, work one row as normal.
Next Row: Cast off remaining 12 sts.
Right Neck Shaping:
Attach yarn to the inner edge of the opposite shoulder. Working over the remaining ... 46 (49 - 53 - 56) sts.
Turn and working on this set of stitches only, cast off two at the neck edge at the beg of the RS rows four times, continue to dec by 1 at the neck edge on every other row until there are 34 (36 - 38 - 40) sts.
Work without dec until measures 19 (19 - 20 - 20) cm from the marker ending on a WS row.
Shoulder Shaping:
Next Row (RS): Cast off 11 (12 - 13 - 14) sts at the beg of the row work as normal to end.
Work one row as normal.
Repeat the above two rows once more, work one row as normal.
Next Row: Cast off remaining 12 sts.
TURTLENECK (DRESS)
Join shoulder seams together using wool needle or crochet hook.
With RS facing and using 3.75mm circular needles, continue to work in pattern across sts from stitch holder at back neck. Pick up 24 (26 - 25 - 23) sts along left neck edge, work in pattern across sts on front stitch holder and pick up 23 (27 - 27 - 25) sts along the right neck edge. Join to begin working in the round ... 93 (100 - 105 - 110) sts
Continue working in rounds in the pattern until turtleneck measures 16cm from beginning. Binding off loosely in ribbing.
TURTLENECK (TOP)
Join shoulder seams together using wool needle or crochet hook.
With RS facing and using 3.75mm circular needles, continue to work in pattern across sts from stitch holder at back neck. Pick up 25 (25 - 26 - 21) sts along left neck edge, work in pattern across sts on front stitch holder and pick up 25 (27 - 23 - 22) sts along the right neck edge. Join to begin working in the round ... 96 (99 - 102 - 105) sts
Continue working in rounds in the pattern until turtleneck measures 16cm from beginning. Binding off loosely in ribbing.
ARM BAND FINISHING
Join side seams together at markers.
With RS facing, using a 3.50mm crochet hook, dc around armhole and sl st to close.
Steam and block into shape.

Alternative Yarns
When substituting Makr Recycled Cotton, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 25.5 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over 2x3 rib pattern, using 3.75mm needles after steaming.
Suitable alternatives may include smooth cotton, recycled cotton or cotton-blend yarns with good stitch definition and enough elasticity for the ribbed construction. A lightweight, breathable yarn will help maintain the intended drape and summer-weight feel of both the dress and top.
