Alternative Yarns

When substituting Ficio Noya, choose a yarn that can achieve the pattern tension of 24 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm needles.

Suitable alternatives may include smooth baby yarns with good stitch definition and a soft handle. Choose yarns with similar fibre content, thickness and elasticity for both M and C1 so the striped sections remain even and the twisted ribbing retains its shape.

Important: Match the specified tension and finished fabric rather than relying only on the yarn weight description. Work a generous tension swatch before beginning, as a substitute yarn may alter the finished fit, stripe proportions, ribbing and total yarn quantity required.

Customisation Ideas

  • Choose between the romper or dress version depending on the intended use.
  • Add or omit the optional sleeves to create a warmer or cooler version.
  • Use two high-contrast colours to emphasise the stripe pattern.
  • Use two tonal shades for a softer striped effect.
  • Choose decorative buttons for the shoulder and crotch openings, ensuring they are securely attached.

Care Instructions

Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.

Dry flat where recommended to help maintain the striped fabric, twisted ribbing and garment shape. Check all buttons regularly to ensure they remain securely attached, particularly when the finished garment is intended for a baby or toddler.
