Alternative Yarns

When substituting Ficio Starburst, choose a yarn with a similar weight and finished fabric that works comfortably with 3.75mm needles.

Suitable alternatives may include smooth yarns with good stitch definition. As tension is not important for this project, a slightly different yarn may be used, although the finished dimensions and thickness of the ear saver may vary.

Important: A substitute yarn may change the finished length, width and stretch of the ear saver. Check the fit before attaching the buttons and adjust the length of the Main Panel if required.

Customisation Ideas

  • Choose contrasting colours for the Main Panel and Middle Tie Section.
  • Use decorative buttons to personalise the finished ear saver.
  • Work the project in a solid, tonal or lightly variegated yarn.
  • Make several ear savers in different colours to coordinate with different outfits.
  • Adjust the Main Panel length before casting off to customise the finished fit.

Care Instructions

Follow the care instructions provided on the yarn label used for the project. Wash gently using a method suitable for the selected fibre and reshape while damp.

Take care around the attached buttons when washing. Allow the ear saver to dry completely before use or storage, and regularly check that the buttons remain securely attached.
