How to Make an Easter Tree
Create a colourful Easter tree using refillable plastic eggs, a foam sphere and a decorated tin base. This cheerful project makes a bright seasonal centrepiece and can also be filled with small chocolates for Easter morning.
The project takes approximately 30 minutes to assemble, plus any additional drying time needed for the hot glue.

What You Will Need
Materials
- Refillable plastic Easter eggs
- Decofoam sphere
- Hot glue
- 1 cm dowel
- Cord
- Metal tin
- Rocks
- Crimped paper
- Large ribbon
Equipment
- Hot glue gun
Create the Tree Top
- Push the dowel into the centre of the foam sphere to create a guide hole.
- Remove the dowel, fill the hole with hot glue and insert the dowel again to secure it firmly in place.
- Click each refillable plastic egg together so it is fully closed.
- Apply hot glue to the rounded end of one egg and press it against the foam sphere until the glue sets.
- Continue gluing eggs closely together until the entire sphere is covered.
- Fill any visible gaps between the eggs with small bunches of crimped paper so the foam cannot be seen.
Prepare the Base
- Starting near the base of the metal tin, wrap the cord around the outside.
- Glue the cord in place as you work, keeping each row close to the one below it.
- Continue until the outside of the tin is completely covered.
Assemble the Easter Tree
- Fill the decorated tin with rocks to create a stable base.
- Insert the dowel into the centre of the rocks, making sure the egg-covered sphere sits upright.
- Cover the rocks with crimped pastel paper.
- Tie a large ribbon around the tin and finish it with a decorative bow.
Display and Fill the Tree
Place the finished Easter tree on a table, mantel or shelf as a seasonal decoration. The plastic eggs can be opened and filled with small chocolates or treats before Easter morning.
Safety Note
Hot glue guns and melted glue can cause burns. Adult supervision is recommended when children are completing this project.
Make sure the tin is filled with enough rocks to support the weight of the decorated sphere and prevent the tree from tipping over.
