How to Make an Easter Egg Suncatcher

Create a bright Easter egg suncatcher using a plastic pocket, PVA glue and colourful paints. This easy craft looks beautiful displayed on a sunny window, where the light can shine through the painted sections.

The project takes approximately one hour to complete, plus drying time between the outlining and painting stages.

What You Will Need

Materials

• Plastic pocket
• PVA glue
• Black paint
• Makr watercolour paints in assorted colours

Equipment

• Printed Easter egg template
• Scissors
• Paintbrushes
• Paint palette

Prepare the Template

1. Print the Easter egg template and place it inside the plastic pocket.
2. Smooth the plastic pocket so the template sits flat and the outline is easy to follow.

Create the Black Outline

1. Mix black paint with PVA glue on the paint palette.
2. Use a paintbrush to trace the outer edge of the egg and the decorative wavy lines with the black glue mixture.
3. Make sure the black outline is thick enough to separate each coloured section.
4. Leave the outline to dry completely before continuing.

Cut Out the Egg

1. Once the black outline is fully dry, remove the template from inside the plastic pocket.
2. Carefully cut around the outside edge of the egg shape.

Paint the Suncatcher

1. Use different watercolour paint colours to fill the sections between the black outlines.
2. Paint each section carefully, keeping the colours within the raised black borders.
3. Continue until the entire egg is filled with bright colours.
4. Leave the suncatcher flat until the paint is completely dry.

Display the Finished Suncatcher

Once dry, attach the Easter egg suncatcher to a sunny window using a small piece of removable adhesive or clear tape. Position it where natural light can shine through the colourful painted sections.
