How to Knit Latte Cosies

Technique Explanation

Stocking Stitch

Stocking stitch is created by alternating knit rows and purl rows. The right side of the fabric has smooth knit stitches while the reverse side has purl texture.

Increasing with B/F

A B/F increase means knitting into the back and front of the same stitch to create an additional stitch.

1. Knit into the stitch normally.
2. Before removing the stitch from the left needle, knit into the back of the same stitch.
3. Two stitches are created from one stitch.

Rows 6–9

Work stocking stitch.

Purl 1, purl into the back and front of next stitch, purl to last 3 stitches, purl into the back and front of next stitch, purl 1.

Rows 11–12

Work stocking stitch.

Change colour to Contrast Colour and knit row.

Purl row.

Row 15

Change colour to Contrast Colour.

Row 16

Purl row.

Cast off.

Finishing

1. Fold the knitted piece with right sides facing.
2. Sew the side seam neatly using a wool needle.
